Mentoring helps not only the protégé (people are always searching for the right word for the person who is being mentored) but the mentor, too. I have mentored dozens of people and I always find it a rewarding experience, not only because I will go to "interpreter heaven", but because explaining the interpreting process, ethical decision making, professionalism, and business practices, solidifies my thinking on these issues.
