Man in bathtub with wine, enjoying the view

In my bathwater1

David Bar-Tzur

I

I lie, muscles tensed, in my bathwater,

amniotic, amnesiac. My head

Glazed eyes gaze at this body and touch it

He taught me that I must enjoy my body

so with tits erect and prick saluting

II

I lie, quietly now, in my bathwater,

of the world around me.

So soon my body has wrinkled,

I'll quit the bath and go to my lover.

upon memory, gliding instinctively over

Having loved each other from our youth,

we know what our bodies have been,

and what our souls have become.
