Sprint Prevails as Relay Provider of Choice assisting the Deaf and Hard Hearing in Puerto Rico. Building on a relationship of more than three years, Sprint (NYSE: FON) will continue to provide assistive communications services to individuals within Puerto Rico who are deaf or hard of hearing or have a speech disability through a new three-year contract awarded by the Telecommunications Regulatory Board of Puerto Rico.

Many companies and individuals do not realize that the federal law, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), protects those with disabilities and is enforced in Puerto Rico. This law places the responsibilities on private and public businesses, most organizations and professionals to provide "reasonable accommodations" for individuals with a disability. For a deaf person, many times this "reasonable accommodation" is fulfilled at least in part by providing qualified interpreters.
